for live electronics and voice

s_suite is a composition for voice and live electronics based on three poems by Simona Polvani, piccole_forme (small_forms), titled periplo (circumnavigation), la parola (the word) and fuga (flight). Through the bare word, on the edge of abstraction, or through dense, material textures, they tell of an unceasing intimacy in which the sensual body is mental fibre and sensitivity is a predatory eye.
The composition unfolds by following, supporting and opposing the poems. Weaving together predetermined materials and improvised elements, it builds an ever-changing sound path that combines the spoken (but not acted) voice and its processing with concrete sounds and electronic materials, creating different perceptual perspectives that invite the listener to focus on purely sensory or personal paths.
s_suite was premiered at the di_stanze Festival in the “Categoria recitazione musicale” (musical recitation category), on 17 December 2013 at the Auditorium “E. Morricone”, Università di Roma “Tor Vergata”.
